The lights of your city flicker even when you are no longer there to feel their glow. Lights are a part of the fabric of your city; they change throughout the day, respond to your presence, and create borders and lines where architecture fails. Light reveals information and grants access, and at the same time, it constricts our movement and alienates us from our surroundings.

Screen glare is an 8-part sound journey inspired by how light is used to signify the ownership of space. The album transposes the experience of sifting through different lighting environments into sound. Each track sonifies a slice of one's daily routine through the lens of light, from waking up and seeing the morning light filtered through your eyelids, to passing under the yellow street lights in front of your local train station, to watching a movie on your phone before you go to sleep. Screen Glare aims to open a window into light's political and social significance through the emotional power of sound.

To create a new sonic language to describe public and private illumination, the Artist developed a series of software tools inspired by light. These are used extensively throughout the album and are freely available on the Artist's website.
